Well we aren’t saying no……
There is mixed reactions when it comes to swearing on your own website on social media. Many ‘Big Wigs’ in the industry would tell you ‘Swearing is always inappropriate!!!’ rah rah rahhhhhhh
But you know, I really think there is a time and place for obscenities.
And it will all depend on your content
If your business if professional based ie a lawyer or an accountant – then of course no, I would’t recommend swearing ever on your website. But you don’t need me to tell you that!
But if you have a blog or light-hearted website, or you are really trying to get your point across in a strong way, swearing can do this – and do it effectively. After all, people are so used to ‘Boring boring boring’ – sometimes dropping a good F-Bomb can really make them sit up and take notice!
Personally, I don’t like being told what I can and can’t write on my own website. So if I think a good fuck is needed – I will indeed say it. Yes I get whingers and complainers. I get told ‘Grow Up’ and all those kind of things that keyboard-warriors that swear like truck-drivers in their own lives like to police on the internet… But if you don’t care, and it gets the point across – fucking do it!!!!
If you are a person who swears in your business life, people will read your content like your speak. And if you all of a sudden start making your content sound like the Queen is saying it – your content will NOT come across…. ‘They are fucking fake’ they will say.
Content should always be written in the manner of which the writer is speaking – for that true authenticity.
So go forth and spew your obscenities with little abandon!
and if you don’t like it – well fuck off really.
There isn’t enough people on the internet telling it how it is – so people – if you want your audience to take notice – drop a little swear into some of your content…..
BUT….. (sorry there is always a BUT)
No social media you will have to use the * or the # – because Facebook doesn’t like that kind of shit. Soft. They will shut you down faster than a brothel in a school zone.
So as long as you watch your P’s and Q’s on Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms, you will be golden!
